How to Find the Halfway Point on Google Maps

Halfway Point on Google Maps

Google Maps is one of the most widely used navigation apps. I’ll show you how to find the halfway point on Google Maps in this quick guide. Essentially, there are two options: use the Measure Distance option or calculate the coordinates yourself.

How to Find Midpoint Between Two Points on Google Maps

Google Maps do not support the halfway point feature. In other words, the app cannot calculate the midpoint between two different locations or even multiple locations.

Measure the Distance

One solution is to measure the distance between the two points and then find the midpoint. Right-tap on your starting point, choose the Measure distance option, then click on the map again to mark the second location.

Calculate the Halfway Point Using Coordinates

Another option is to do the math and find the midpoint using coordinates.

1. First, you must determine the coordinates of each point.

2. Next, add their latitudes and divide by two.

3. Finally, multiply the longitudes of each location by two.

4. Make a note of the new coordinates. What you get are the midpoint’s latitudes and longitudes.

5. In Google Maps, enter the new coordinates.

How to Find the Central Location Between Multiple Addresses

You don’t have time to measure the distance between two points or manually search for the correct coordinates. Instead, you can use a web app to determine the halfway point between two or more addresses.

If you want to search the midpoint between multiple locations, I recommend using a web app. When determining the halfway point of two or more points not in the same octant of the globe, the two methods listed above lose accuracy and relevance.

WhatsHalfway, MeetWays, and A place between us are three excellent web apps that automatically calculate the halfway point between different locations. So enter your addresses, choose the type of venue you want, and let the tools do the rest. That’s all there is to it.

As you can see, Google Maps is not the most user-friendly tool for locating the halfway point. Hopefully, Google will add this functionality to Maps soon.

Conclusion

Dear Visitors, to find the halfway point between two addresses on Google Maps, you can measure the distance between the two points or use coordinates to calculate the midpoint. Alternatively, you can use a web app to do the calculations for you. So, which of these alternatives do you prefer? Would you please let us know in the comments section below?
