Best Ways To Use Corrlinks to E-mail your Friends

Corrlinks

Using CorrLinks, federal detainees can contact the outside world via email. TRULINCS, a computer system that allows prisoners to send emails to loved ones on the outside, is provided by the Federal Bureau of Prisons and is accessible to convicts. TRULINCS is easy to use; however, others outside the organization may have greater difficulty.

CorrLinks has sent you an invitation via email, and this guide will walk you through the process of connecting with a friend or colleague who is already a member of the system.

What is CorrLinks?

An email and message board hybrid, CorrLinks combines the best of both worlds. It uses a relay instead of sending emails directly to and from each other as we do with other services. When an inmate sends an email, the recipient is notified that they must log into CorrLinks to view it. The reader can use it to compose a response.

The same private contractor administers CorrLinks and TRULINCS. CorrLinks isn’t free for inmates, but it is for those outside the prison. TRULINCS charges an average of $0.05 per minute, depending on the institution.

Using CorrLinks, an inmate can log in and enter the email address of the person they like to contact and the message they wish to send. Sending an email to someone on behalf of an inmate is done automatically by the system. There’s no way for the two of them to communicate in real-time or directly.

Using CorrLinks from the outside

To view messages sent to you, you must first register an account and complete the setup process if you are not a Bureau of Prisons employee. Then, to begin conversing, you’ll need to sign up for CorrLinks and wait for the invitation to arrive via email.

On this website, you can set up a CorrLinks account in advance if you know that an inmate will be contacting you. First, ignore the inmate information until you are familiar with it. Then, creating the account is still possible.

Replying to a CorrLinks request

You’ll be notified via email if an inmate wishes to make contact with you via CorrLinks. It will look like this:

This is a system generated message informing you that the above-named person is a federal prisoner who seeks to add you to his/her contact list for exchanging electronic messages. There is no message from the prisoner at this time.

You can ACCEPT this prisoner's request or BLOCK this individual or all federal prisoners from contacting you via electronic messaging at www.corrlinks.com. To register with CorrLinks you must enter the email address that received this notice along with the identification code below.

Email Address: EMAIL ADDRESS

Identification Code: 1ABC23DE

This identification code will expire in 10 days.

The Bureau of Prisons employees will monitor your electronic correspondence with federal prisoners if you allow it. CorrLinks email will notify the prisoner once you have registered and approved the prisoner for correspondence.

This email contains only one piece of information that you need to know: the Identification Code. It is the inmate’s system ID, which will be used to communicate with them. In addition, the email has a link to CorrLinks, which you can click on to get immediately there, or you can explore on your own.

Log in to your CorrLinks account if you already have one. If you haven’t already, click the Register button to get started. In the next window, enter your information. Do not forget to include their Identification Code at the bottom of your email to ensure that they receive it. For CorrLinks, this is their primary point of contact, so be sure to double-check the code.

Enter the Inmate Identification Code once more and select Enable Email Alert from the drop-down menu that appears. Once a new message arrives in your mailbox, you’ll receive a notification in your primary email account. Once the process is complete, click the Accept button.

Web@CorrLinks.com will send you a verification email. A phrase like ‘CorrLinks Sign Up Verification Link’ is likely to appear on the page. Verifying your account is as simple as clicking on the link provided. Once you’ve entered all information, click Next to proceed with the rest of the setup process.
